Lens Description:
Released in 1972, the Asahi SMC Takumar 55mm F/1.8 is a moderately sized standard optic for M42-mount cameras. Its 6 elements in 5 groups layout follows a Biotar / Helios-style formula, valued for its smooth background rendering and strong light-gathering capability. With a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture and 6-blade diaphragm, it excels at rendering subject separation and pleasing background blur. The lens accepts 49mm screw-in filters and relies on manual focus only. I have personally used and tested this lens.
